CIRCULAR TO PARISHIONERS WEEK 64 - AUG. 20, 2005 "PEOPLE ARE SMILING AGAIN" In the past two weeks a change has occurred at St. Martin’s. The Church has been open early – the doors are open and welcoming, inviting participation. There are signs of revitalisation. There is a new feeling in the parish – like a breath of fresh air. Daily Mass is now attended by more people. Father Romi and Father Edward are well received by parishioners. It is refreshing to experience a positive interaction at daily Mass. Tensions are easing; suspicions are dissipating as no one is afraid of “being reported”. No police presence is required on trumped up stories. Parishioners now feel welcomed about coming to worship, without fear of criticism or insult. …. “What are you doing here? – No meetings I tell you!” Last Sunday morning a parishioner was heard to remark “Isn’t it wonderful, you see people smiling again!” Parishioners now feel free to speak without intimidation and smile without restriction. Many parishioners of St. Martin of Tours now attend other parishes, and have not had the benefit of seeing this current renewal; this circular serves to inform them and invite them to revisit our parish, so that they too may experience the renewed hope that is now sensed in St. Martin of Tours. A favourable opportunity now presents itself for the healing of our parish family. Do not let it pass. We encourage parishioners to actively participate in supporting those charged with looking after our spiritual welfare. Save our Parish actively seeks the restoration of unity in our parish. We encourage everyone to give full cooperation to the priests appointed to serve St. Martin of Tours Parish. _____________________________________________________________ LET US PRAY Recreate in us a heart and spirit renewed, A heart and spirit rededicated to your holy and healing work: -The healing, side by side with our brothers and sisters betrayed and abused by the church -The healing and support of our ordained priests -The healing and renewal of your wounded church We are one in and through you. You have gathered us together; you have called us to your work. Your Spirit among us gives your Church new life, and we raise our voices to proclaim your truth, your victory, your reconciliation. Help us to be strong. Help us to have the courage and wisdom to do your will, to be faithful to your voice in our hearts, in our midst.
