CIRCULAR TO PARISHIONERS WEEK 65 - AUG. 27, 2005 WHERE THERE’S HOPE, THERE’S LIFE Thank you! Fr. Edward and Fr. Romeo! Thank you for the freshness that you bring to our parish. Thank you for restoring our hope. We pray that the Administrator, when he comes, will fulfill this hope. People welcome this new phase and they want it realised in a reconstructed, reunified parish. We are people of hope. We want a parish that is full of life and love and a sense of community. Today, St. Martin of Tours is barely functioning. Many parishioners look to “SaveOurParish” as a safety thread to hold our parish together. Many parishioners are looking for truth. Many parishioners look to “SaveOurParish” for resoluteness, for endurance, for hope - including those who find themselves alienated from any form of communal Christian worship. That is why the weekly circulars and www.saveourparish.com continue to inform and encourage parishioners – those who remain as well as those who have left. We thank the Bishop for assigning interim priests who are welcoming and respectful to all parishioners, who speak to us with compassion and words of wisdom, who encourage and guide us to love God and to follow Christ in our beloved Church of St. Martin of Tours. If you also feel this new sense of hope, please write and tell the Bishop. _____________________________________________________________ WHO SHALL REBUILD GOD’S HOUSE? In the spirit of renewed hope, turn to God; for unless the Lord himself builds the house, they labour in vain who build (Psalm 127). Yes, the Lord builds the house but, as the psalmist recognizes, there is human labour involved as well. That would be you and me. God will rebuild his house through the labour of his faithful. So, come back all you labourers – ministers, readers, volunteers, singers, workers – all you faithful People of God. Will you labour for the Lord and dwell in his house? The Parish of St. Martin of Tours is again breathing life. There is a optimistic expression of goodwill emanating from parishioners. It appears that all parishioners are eager to work together to forgive and to be forgiven. There is a hope, an expectation, a resolve, to work towards achieving a restoration of the spiritual and social life of the parish family. God is calling. We answer: “Here am I, Lord; I come to do your will” (Letter from a parishioner) ________________________________________________________________________________________ “Peter's current Successor takes on as his primary task the duty to work tirelessly to rebuild the full and visible unity of all Christ's followers. He is aware that good intentions do not suffice for this. Concrete gestures that enter hearts and stir consciences are essential.” (First message of His Holiness Benedict XVI Wednesday, 20 April 2005) ________________________________________________________________________________________ For more information, contact: Aisling Egan 416 671-4710 Pat DeAngelis 416 809-1819 Duncan Walker 905 277-9825 Lucy Pires 905 273-6093 Dunstan Bazely 905 275-3946 Judy Byrnes 905 275-1536 Patricia Russell 905 279-9205 _____________________________________________________________ Email: bishop.boissonneau@rogers.com Fax: 416 207-4984. ambrozic@archtoronto.org Fax: 416 934-3452 . ________________________________________________________ |
