CIRCULAR TO PARISHIONERS                     WEEK 85 - JAN 14, 2006

BRING BACK THE SPIRIT OF GOD  “Where there is hatred let me bring your love”

In one week we will have a change of priest in our parish.  But it is not merely a change of priest that
we need, it is a return of the spirit of God – where there is hatred let there be love; where there is injury
let there be pardon; where there is doubt let true faith return.  Let God’s living grace enrich and fulfill
our parish.  For too long we have been neglected and shut out of a meaningful relationship in parish
worship – fractured and split apart.  Our Catholic Church is failing us; it is failing our children; it is failing
God.

The Parish of St. Martin’s needs and wants a shepherd who is spiritual, a “father” who is approachable
and responsive;   a person who loves God , who loves God’s work and who loves and respects each
and every one of God’s children.  Give us a priest we can talk to, a priest who will
supply our
spiritual needs
.  We need and want a pastor who earnestly believes in unifying the parish; who will
provide spiritual substance instead of just the symbols; one who can and will talk to all of our young
people; one who will engage all elements of our fractured community in the active spiritual life of the
parish.

Is this too much to ask?  Is it not God’s promise of salvation?  Have we not all been called to this?  For
too long, spiritual support has been denied to those parish groups and individuals who have been
rejected and cut off from oneness in the life of the parish.  The parish must be united within itself, and
wholly united to God.  We should expect and accept nothing less.  Bring back the Spirit of God!
