CIRCULAR TO PARISHIONERS WEEK TWENTY-FIVE NOV 20, 2004 THE END OF THE LITURGICAL YEAR It is time to cast our sights back to last year, and forward to next year. We have come through a tumultuous period . Be steadfast and stalwart with faith in God, and with his grace, have faith in each other. Through prayer and good works our community will endure and overcome our present strife. We are resolute in our resolve. Help and support those who have been alienated and rejected, particularly those who are now less than fully participating members of the Church. _______________________________________________________ WHO ARE WE REACHING? Our circular is now read by about 900 people weekly. Most of our readers are attendees at Masses at St Martin of Tours. Many are parishioners that are temporarily attending other parishes or other denominations, or have otherwise ceased attending St. Martin’s. We thank you for your support. Our circulars are also read via the web site. We extend thanks also to you, our internet readers. From your comments, we know that many of you are in the Mississauga/Toronto region, some are in other communities throughout Ontario, and we receive quite a number of comments from BC and the Prairies. If you have anything of interest for the Parish, we would be happy to inform our parishioners by printing it. _______________________________________________________ HOW CAN OUR VOICES BE HEARD? Money talks – let it be your voice! Many of you are looking for charities to support with your weekly contributions. You may wish to direct your donations to where the need is great. The following charities are thankful for your support. Please continue to help them. 1. Catholic Missions of Canada, 201-1155 Yonge St., Toronto, Ont. M4T 1W2 2. The first concert will be at St. Gregory’s Church at Kipling & Rathburn, on Sunday 12 December, at 7:30 pm. This concert will feature new and traditional Christmas pieces and carols. How pleasant it will be to hear again Michael, Marie, Stephen and Hyung-sun and all the other musicians/singers we have come to identify with the Choir’s annual Concerts. Tickets are now available, and the proceeds of this Concert will support Share Life. KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS NEWS By popular demand, the Choir will also give a Benefit Concert for our Knights of Columbus charities (example, Credit Valley Breast Cancer Research Centre). This Concert will be at St. Martin’s High School, Rosemary Drive on Thursday, 16 December, at 7.30 pm. Come and enjoy - and make a donation to Knights of Columbus charities . As the Knights are no longer permitted to meet in the church, their fundraising efforts for many worthwhile local causes have been severely curtailed. Please help them to help others in need, and enjoy the evening with parish friends and family. THE PANETTONES ARE COMING, HURRAH, HURRAH! They will be available each weekend from December 4/5 while supplies last. Good news – same price as last year ($18)! This has always been a major fundraiser for the Knights, and a popular seasonal specialty. Mmm... let’s see – will that be chocolate? or raisin? or both!!! |
