CIRCULAR TO PARISHIONERS             WEEK SIXTEEN    SEPT 18, 2004

ST. MARTIN OF TOURS, MISSISSAUGA  -  WE WANT OUR PARISH BACK!

We are demonstrating because we want JUSTICE, TRUTH AND UNITY in our parish and we have
lost all trust and faith in our Cardinal, Bishop and Pastor.

They, as our leaders, have failed us by refusing to resolve the conflicts that exist with our pastor in
a fair,
equitable and just way.

Justice must be done, and seen to be done.
 The Bishop, in particular in a high-handed
manner is dismissive of the parishioners’ problems and anguish.

We are scandalized by the pastor of our parish, whose
unacceptable behaviour can no longer
be tolerated.  He has divided and destroyed our happy, peaceful parish of 35 years.

Complaints against him are varied and numerous:

He is extremely rude, disrespectful and cruel;
He is dictatorial and explodes in uncontrollable rage, dismissing people and attacking
elderly parishioners;
He has refused to marry people, for frivolous, petty reasons;
He has refused to visit sick parishioners;
He has disrupted funeral services;
He has put the safety of staff at risk;
He bullies volunteers with verbal abuse.

He states that the Chancery and God have bestowed absolute power upon him – not to be
questioned.

When he failed to gain control of the choir assets, he caused deliberate upheaval in our parish by
dismissing the Choir and Music Director of 28 years.  (Under the instructions of a former pastor, the
choir was registered as a non-profit organization in 1980).  This pastor, together with the Bishop,
directed a nasty campaign to dismiss and destroy an award-winning choir and its director.

He preaches love, charity and humility from the altar, yet he demonstrates hatred and vengeance.

A significant number of parishioners, who could not tolerate his attitude and behaviour, have left.
We have remained to fight.

The Bishop treats the parishioners with disdain, and continues to condone unpriestly behaviour.
He has also been complicit in the spiteful treatment of the Music Director.

The Bishop, in this enlightened day and age, trusts a man of irrational behaviour, and sacrifices a
parish.  He maintains that only the clergy have rights.  Parishioners, who have built and supported
the church spiritually and financially over the last 35 years, have no rights.

The leaders of Mother Church continue to ignore and cover up.

Please join us in fighting for the Christian and human rights of the laity.  We are withholding our
financial contributions to the church until the rights of the faithful are respected.
