CIRCULAR TO PARISHIONERS             WEEK SEVENTEEN          SEPT 25, 2004

            THANK YOU  -  SILENCED VOICES SPOKE VOLUMES!

Thank you for your support. at last Sunday’s Rally at St. Michael’s Cathedral. It was peaceful,
successful and well received by Cathedral churchgoers.  The Rally lasted five hours and
attracted over 150 registered participants. A majority of churchgoers accepted flyers, voiced
sympathy and offered their prayers.  The Rally included a wide spectrum of our parish – from
ages 13 to 80+, representing visible minorities, new parishioners and founding members.  The
event was covered by CTV, Vision TV, Toronto Star, Mississauga News and the Catholic New
Times.  Numerous emails of support from other parishes and across the province have been
received at  www.saveourparish.com.

Suzanne Scorsone,  Archdiocecan Director, Office of Communications, observed and
photographed the Rally as it took place. In speaking to Rally spokespersons, she remarked:

St. Martin of Tours is a happy parish;
Fr. Beltran enjoys the support of 80% of parishioners;
The bishop is trying to get Father to be more responsive;
Rhetoric is hurting your cause.

Because of  the publicity generated, the Catholic Register has written an article. This contains so
many inaccuracies that we wonder if they were even there. We hope that you read the article
and respond with letters to the Editor.

Please read Page 12 of the Catholic New Times that is available for you today.  Many
parishioners are subscribing to this paper noted for its balanced perspective on the problems
encountered by the laity.
Rogers Cable TV on Channel 10, is planning a programme around
the events taking place in our parish.  This will air shortly.  Contact Cable 10 next week for
programme details.

We are still praying for a basic level of pastoral care for St. Martin of Tours Parish, and
for resolution to our problems.
 Continue  to wear black at weekend Masses to show your
support.  Many parishioners are contributing to alternate charities until the impasse in our parish
has been resolved. (see “CHARITIES” link on website www.saveourparish.com).
